Elaine started her professional life as a school teacher. In 1974, she began an illustrious 40+ year career at Bergdorf Goodman, helping launch their Personal Shopping department and serving as the store's head personal shopper. Elaine has been written about in The New York Times, Harper’s Bazaar, and New York Magazine, featured in the books “Things I Wish My Mother Had Told Me: A Guide to Living with Impeccable Grace & Style” by Lucia Van Der Post and “Between Trapezes: Flying into a New Life with the Greatest of Ease" by Gail Blanke. She also appeared in the 2013 film “Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's.” As a founding Board member of Music In Common, Elaine has worked tirelessly for the past decade and a half to combat the hate responsible for the murder of Daniel Pearl with a focus on fundraising and fiscal sustainability for the organization. She is proud to have been chosen as this year’s Raise the MIC Gala honoree.
